Happy 2014!

And we’re back. Holy moly I sure wasn’t expecting 2014 to creep up on us like it did. Are any of the rest of you ready for 2014? It seems like WordPress sometimes does a year in review post, so I may save that type of post for later.

So what’s been going on for the last month? Well, I really haven’t been able to leave my NaNo novel alone. I feel like it needs the middle fixed before I can let it go cold and edit it. This thing is going to surpass the 100K mark, which I guess is fine, as edits tend to bring it down. I had a lot of fun writing it, though, and it feels good to have a sequel in hand, even if it needs some editing.

WHAT CAN YOU LOOK FORWARD TO IN THE COMING WEEKS ON LIT & SCRIBBLES?

For one thing I have a ton of Friday Flix/reviews I’ll be eager to talk about. I’ve been watching lots of shows peeps. Too many I’m sure. It’s what I do when I need a break from copious amounts of writing. I think it’s what helped with the stress of NaNo.

Comics of course! I know I need to get back on that. What can I say? Burn out.

I keep having strange and interesting things happen to me, which I should really note because I tend to forget about them when a blank WordPress post is sitting in front of me. But it will happen. 2014 will be the year of the strange (okay, maybe every year is like that, and maybe not as much strange as interesting).

More about writing. I keep learning more about writing, so there’s more to be said. A lot more.

Okay 2014, ready or not you’re here. Let’s see what you have to offer us.

Big plans for 2014? Anything you’d like to see on the blog more (other than me *coughing, wiping away cobwebs*)? Any writing goals for the big 14?

  1. You know what I want you to talk about.
    (Unneeded Hint: Ponytail Wig) 😀

I have some writing goals/resolutions. Biggest one is sell a short story this year. It annoyed me that I didn’t do that last year. I’ll probably talk more about my goals/resolutions on Friday… You know, after I’m well rested (I look like zombie right now).

I wish you success in 2014! Let’s rock this year.

    • It’s love for you to do a how to of sorts post on short stories. I think a lot of people would be interested. I told one of the Mystic Cooking ladies about BBF since she loves the Korean one. She’s intrigued. This show could be a hit because it’s so bad. 😉 I know we’re both eager for the next tragic episode. Btw I’m in season 2 of Hana Yori Dango, just the first ep. Spotted Nakatsu right away since you told me to look for him. I wondered if he’d play the weird model. Ding! He does a great job nerding it up. 🙂

      • You know what, I plan to write one soon (starting the 6th). I’ll document how I work through it. Because, I’ve been standing here thinking about it and I swear the only thing I think is “I get a concept and then I write it.” But, there’s probably more to it than that. So, give me a wee bit of time to figure it out, okay?

The more that enjoy the BBF badness the better. Is BBF possibly the DARK SHADOWS (tv series) of our time?

Nakatsu is awesome. He’s got a lot of range as an actor. I swear I didn’t realize it was him until he “revealed” himself to the school. And it was mostly his nose that tipped me off. 🙂 Very iconic.

        • I haven’t seen the old Dark Shadows, but if it’s just as “good” as BBF I’ll have to check it out.

No rush on the short stories post, I just think people would be interested.I certainly am. 🙂

  2. I must learn how to get a novel up above 75,000 – again this one has come to a natural finish right there. Maybe outlining would help.
Looking forward to whatever you’ve got for us in 2014 Jae, HNY.

    • Outlining has certainly helped me. I’ve even done a free write of the first chapter to get an idea of the story and characters, then outlined the rest. Thanks for a warm welcome back! 🙂
